I tried to use this on a hardwood (walnut). As you can see from the pictures the tips just bent and broke when the slightest pressure to the burning pen was applied.
The pen started feeling hot also after almost 10 minutes Immediately unplugged it and let it cool off.
This is what it looks like afterwards. You can see the discoloration from the excessive heat disbursement. Probably due to the cheap metal alloy used to produce the tips and the casing of the burning pen.
