Some tips for newbies:

#1: Don’t overtighten tips or you’ll break them. Don’t use pliers. Just tighten firmly by hand
#2: Have patience! Let the heat do the work. Pressing hard accomplishes nothing. Slow down & lighten up, especially with thin point tips.

After speaking with customer service, i changed my rating. The product is exactly as advertised, i was being a little too aggressive in my use. I was informed R&D are investigating ways to make the product better, and i felt like my criticisms were heard and viewed with a level head. If youre new to pyrography or doing delicate detsil work,this is the burner for you. I did buy a separate rheostat to control the temp which works out perfectly.
To newbies like me, I suggest reading all the instructions, including the PDF Mr. Chandler sends out when he ships his product (nice touch), invest in a little bottle of graphite powder and have patience with heating and cooling.
Mr. Chandler another reason for my choice was that I read many reviews and noticed that you were the only one to answer people''s reviews and questions personally. Most other sellers let other customers answer questions. It is rare to find someone who stands behind their product.
