See more This thing held up extremely well to an ambitious wood burning project (pictures). I burned groove lines of a very detailed octopus into a 36" x 36" table top -- that took many long sessions over several days. There were a couple times I forgot to shut it off when I was done for the night and it ended up staying on for like 24 hours straight. An auto-shutoff might be a nice feature, but I''m just glad it didn''t burn my house down. Even after being left on for way too long, it continued to heat up to the max temperature reliably through my entire project. Never burnt myself on it accidentally, surprising given how many cumulative hours I used it. 15 people found this helpful Helpful Report Heather1.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase Waist of money. Anytime I try to use the tool and start a craft. Everything starts to become un screwed and It starts screwing up. So I have to shut it off let it cool down tighten it back up turn it back on, wait for it to heat up and try again. Just to have to do everything all over again and again. I end up stoping my craft cause it takes way to much time Just to get the dang thing to work properly. Absolutely not worth the money. 5 people found this helpful Helpful Report Amazon Customer5.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase Great kit for beginners Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2020

See more First off, this kit came with every kind of wood burning tip I''ve ever & never seen. So far, it seems to work well. The on/off switch and temperature control not only work great, but they feel smooth & functional instead of cheap & breakable. Just for the record, my first job with this was plastic welding and reinforcing the broken plastic grill for a friend''s riding lawn mower. I don''t mean like a 20 minute fix either. I was melting, squishing & welding on this thing for a good 4 or 5 hours. The temperature control was PERFECT! I set it to where it would melt the plastic reasonably quick without burning it. For $20 I''m thinking of getting another one for wood burning and keeping this one to use on all the stuff it was never designed for! 2 people found this helpful Helpful Report J Fry1.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase A Few Issues Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2021 This product would be great however the space between where you can hold it like a pen without burning your skin off and the actual tip is too far away from each other to get real control of where you are burning. See more This product would be great however the space between where you can hold it like a pen without burning your skin off and the actual tip is too far away from each other to get real control of where you are burning. Also, once you screw the tips on it tightly with no wiggle room and it becomes hot enough to begin your project, roughly 2 minutes later the heat will cause the tip to come unscrewed just enough for the tip to be loose where you can''t apply enough pressure to burn accurately. I ended up buying a $60 one that had great holding placement in relation to the tip and the tips actually plug into the tool so they can''t come unscrewed when heated. I would not have bought this tool had I known about these issues. 3 people found this helpful Helpful Report Diana Sears5.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase For the Extreme Beginners, only Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2021 No instructions , no info on nibs, etc. Tool becomes loose (plus nib) - had to use pliers to tighten every 5 minutes. It did work but the most irritating thing, no matter how tight I got all of the pieces, it would come loose or undone. I did have a 400 degree tip fall on my leg, thank goodness for jeans. The tips are cheap. I got replacements at harbor freight which were surprisingly better. It heats very very quickly. The temp dial is a pain in the butt. It’s in and area you place your hand and it moves a lot just by you using it. And it seems the temps are a sticker the put on the itty bitty dial. Yes it did complete two jobs I wanted done and yes it was fine for entry or beginner level and didn’t make me feel bad about deciding wood burning isn’t my niche and a dremel with proper bits is superior haha. I did eventually get to a point I used it to outline so it was more controllable when I used the dremel.
