The product comes with not one, but two pieces of paper in the box with an extra long list of ways that you can break this item. Basically, if you use it then IT WILL BREAK. Mine broke within the first hour of use. The metal tips are made of such cheap and soft metal that they bend and break under normal use. My kids and I read all the warnings but one of the tips still broke off inside the pen, rendering the unit completely useless. What a catastrophic waste of money ($55). I spend an hour trying to drill out the remnant tip that was stuck in the handle with no luck. The whole kit now is useless. I feel foolish and ripped-off for buying this product, especially because I bought the deluxe kit with the aluminum case. I can''t believe that it has so many stars on Amazon. I suspect that there were robo reviewers or company reps that have given their own reviews in order to artificially product so many stars. Amazon should discontinue selling this product, its ruining their reputation too. Some things I did like, the three position slide switch (off/med/hi) allowing one hand switching a hot iron, the lettering template. the variety of included tips, the selection of additional branding tips to purchase.

Photo is of my very first piece. Had no idea it would be this easy. I read the instructions and watched a short video and that''s it. Super glad it came with an extra sheet explaining explicitly that you cannot press down on the pen or it will mess everything up, because I''m always hurrying with everything and I would have ruined it within five minutes for sure. As it was, I had to keep using needle nose pliers to tighten (but not overtighten) the bit while I was drawing, but I think it''s because I was using short ''sketchy'' lines, like I do when I sketch. The first wood burner I purchased took quite awhile to heat up and even at highest temperature still required a good amount of pressure to burn the wood. While working on the ornaments I was making it began to bend. I decided to try the TruArt set. It arrived quickly which helped me get the ornaments done in time for Christmas. It is very easy to use, heats up quickly, and comes with a great variety of tips. The TruArt burner gets much hotter than my old burner so I do not have to use as much pressure. It also has a lower heat setting for leather that I have not tried yet but will report back after I have tried it on leather. They emphasize to not over tighten so I’m careful. The two temps are a nice feature not w many other brands. Overall I like it. My guess is I need to learn how to use it.

Update after months of use, same comments. Very few useful nibs and the bend even with short use. With the high temp and long use absolutely bent and the heavy angle one that there is two. With a short amount of use, bent and stripped out. Now I have very few jobs and I am in the middle of a project. If you are serious at all go to check out skilled people and check out what they use.
