As I''m sure most folks have experienced in their first week with Invisalign, removal of the aligners was a chore that I absolutely dreaded. First, sticking my hand in my mouth to dig around just grosses me out in general (particularly during a pandemic when sanitation is at the top of everyone''s mind) and then also messing up my nails. Or if my nails were too short then it was even more of a challenge.
I do have attachments so the learning curve for removal was just not as easy as videos (or my ortho) made it out to be. After struggling for 2-3 days when I first got them, I knew I couldn''t take it and ran across this little tool on Amazon. I cannot be without it. What used to take me several minutes takes me 10 seconds, tops. I can''t believe my ortho didn''t recommend this but I''m so grateful for having found it. It''s slim and easily fits in the slim Invisalign case (even with the aligners) and the ring makes it easy to get a secure grip.
I was so discouraged my first week and thinking I made a terrible decision with Invisalign (if you''re reading this, you know what I mean lol) but this helped tremendously and now I don''t need to choose between the inconvenience of removing my aligners and eating. lol

I''m usually not this hyped about a product when I review it--but these are amazing. I had started Invisalign and had something like 8 anchors on my bottom teeth, and getting the bottom aligner off was VERY difficult. I sliced up my lip a few times the first day, bled everywhere. The second day I missed dinner bc I couldn''t get it out--felt like it was going to break my teeth when I tried. I got a lesser version of this from my Orthodontist but went ahead and ordered this one as well.
The design of this tool is amazing. The flat part that pries the aligner off is far superior to those that are just hooked. The large circle at the end is great for making sure the tool doesn''t fall out or into your mouth. It used to take me 5 minutes or so to get them out (IF I got them out), and now it''s like 20 seconds.

I started Invisalign about 3 weeks ago and removing my aligners was tearing up my nails. I ordered these and they work great. I keep one in the bathroom and the other fits perfectly in the aligner case. The best part is, I was finally able to paint my nails.

Because I had had no problems with taking off my Invisalign trays prior to having attachments, I didn’t anticipate how hard they were to take off afterwards. After cursing at videos that showed how easily I should’ve done it, I happened on one for this product and put in my order. It’s made my life so much easier. I think all orthodontists should advise their patients that they may need this type of tool to take off aligning trays instead of suggesting that we use crochet hooks!

Whether you are male or female, this will make removing your aligners much more quicker & easier, and it will save wear & tear on your nails. It is made of plastic so it is gentle and light weight. And it is so cool that it fits right inside of your Invisalign container! It comes with 2, they are blue, which is exactly what I ordered. I am so glad I got them and will definitely purchase again.

The Orthokey performs as promised. I just got my first set of aligners and was ready to give up. I just could not remove my upper tray. I broke 3 nails during my first attempt and hurt the side of my index finger. I wasn’t sure how I could do this for the next year, so I did some research. Two days later this arrived and has made my initial experience with Invisalign less traumatic! If you have strong nails you might not need this, but I still cannot remove my top tray without my Orthokey. So worth it!

There is only one spot on my bottom retainer that will lift to allow removal. It''s the very back of my left back molar.
My nails are natural and too flexible to do the job. I was putting both hands in my mouth, hooking both thumb nails under the inner and outer edges of that far back molar and carefully lifting up. Once it released, with thumb and forefinger, I''d carefully peel the retainer off my teeth, also pulling out a trail of saliva. So gross and embarrassing!
With the Ortho Key, I just hook it under the farthest back edge of the retainer, gently lift to release, then quickly and carefully lift in two more places along the inside edge, making my way to the front of my mouth. Once I get there, one more pull on the inside edge behind my front teeth and the retainer pops out.
No more cramming both hands in my mouth, chipping nail polish, or drooling. No fear of breaking my retainer, and no discomfort!
The only complaint is that''s it''s slightly too long to fit in my retainer case. I have to hold it in place at an angle to close the lid. I with it were just a little shorter so it fits easily with no fuss.
I think if one were to find the right technique, this tool could assist in anyone''s retainer removal.

The item is made well, and it seems sturdy, but I just couldn''t get it to work on my Invisalign retainers. I''m not sure if the hook was too thick to use or my trays are just too tight. I was really hoping this item would be helpful because I hate digging my fingers in my mouth. If it would have worked for me, I''m confident it would have lasted through my full aligner treatment without breaking.
Aside from being unable to use the item, I requested a return and the Amazon agent said the item needed to come back...after it was in my mouth. Kinda gross, but I guess whatever. For $10 I was expecting more, and I''m genuinely disappointed I couldn''t get it to work for me.

I wasn''t dissapointed by the quality, it just didn''t work for me. My first 4 sets of aligners were so incredibly tight, I thought having a tool would save my sore finger tips and prevent any further broken nails trying to yank the aligners out. I thought these would give me a bit of leverage to get it around the "buttons" that are on all my top row of teeth. I could kind of hook it over the aligner, but there was no leverage. I hurt my teeth even more trying to use this. I''m not saying everyone will have the same experience, if your aligners aren''t as tight as mine and you have less "buttons" it might work a lot better. My 5th set of aligners are feeling easier to take out so i''d say if you don''t have trouble taking them out with your fingers, then you don''t need this at all. It was sturdy but I still don''t think it''s worth the price at all. The shape is similar to an orange peeler so maybe try that first lolReportConnie4.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchaseworks great with Essix retainersReviewed in Canada on March 21, 2021

These really work and saved my sanity. This one has a bit thinner point than the other model I tried. This is working better for me as the retainers are so tight.
