It’s doubtful, to me, that the ink of the pen is making it easier to burn the wood.
It’s not burning the wood. It’s simply changing the color of the dye to black.

To test this I put the heat gun on the lowest setting and held it off the “ink” about a foot. The ink changed colors almost instantly. The air coming out of my heat gun was cooler then that of a hair dryer. I even held it over my hand and had to laugh because of how ridiculous it was.

This is an ink changing dye.
