See more I bought this in preparation for a four-night car camping trip because my old camping mat sprung a leak. I''m a big guy (6'' 5", 260 lbs) and I like to sleep on my side. This is the only sleeping pad that has been comfortable to ''side sleep'' on. Everything else has been too thin, or slowly leaks through the night. I''ve been on hundreds of camping trips, both backpacking and car camping, and this is legitimately the most comfortable pad I''ve slept on.

If you prefer super soft mattresses that you sink into like a full size air mattress, this might not be suitable for you. While it is fairly soft, it is firm compared to an air mattress, but not as firm as an ultra-basic foam sheet sleeping pad. I''d put it halfway between those two.

Backpackers: This is not suitable for backpacking. Compressed and rolled up, it''s about the same size and weight as a folded up camp chair. I have an ultralight pad for that instead.

Pros:
• Super thick
• Self inflation works well after a few uses
• Two vents allows faster inflation/deflation
• Long and wide enough for pretty much anyone
• Exterior material feels nice
• Keeps you warm thanks to the thickness

Cons:
• Big and relatively heavy, but that''s a necessary sacrifice for the comfort of this pad
• Included bag is too small, very difficult to roll this pad tight enough to ever fit it back in (it does come with fabric elastic bands to keep it rolled, so this isn''t a huge problem)
• Does not self-inflate very well ONLY the first couple times you unroll it. I recommend leaving it inflated for a few days once you get it to help with this. (You can always inflate it with your mouth anyway)

Best applications:
• Car camping

Now with the current state of the world, next day prime delivery isn’t happening and I was informed my package was going to take a week to get to me, and to much surprise it was delivered three days early. So shipping gets a 5 star review.

I bought this pad to replace the thin “pad” that came with my Coleman sleeping cot, which don’t get me wrong, I like it, but it’s like 1 inch of flimsy padding. It has nothing on this pad, at all. It’s very comfy and soft.

Like the instructions stated I let it inflate over night, really half a day and laid it on my cot to see if it would fit, and IT IS PERFECT. It just addS another layer of comfort and I truly cannot wait until I can get back out there and camp with this thing. I guess for right now I’m going to have to settle for backyard camping.

I paired this Wellax Pad with a Cabela’s Lounge Cot. So, if you’re looking for something comfortable to get a good nights sleep with on a cot, look no further. I have not used the pad in an outdoor camping situation. This is one of the best self-inflating pads I’ve ever use. Unscrewed the 2 caps and waited about 45 minutes to inflate and did not require any breaths. In my opinion, using the Wellax Pad on a cot doesn''t get any better. "It''s Amazing"
This pad on my cot is just as comfortable as my own bed. Deflating is not an issue. Fold in half with valves open and sit on the pad....(repeat) fold in half again and sit....then close the valves....open the valves when you start to roll to get the remaining air out. Only takes about 5 minutes with this process to deflate and get back into the storage bag. The air mattress was noisy, a chore to pack and setup, and as a side sleeper I still often felt the ground beneath my hips as I tossed and turned throughout the night. So instead I’ve been using a thick rubber yoga mat under my sleeping bag and resigning myself to a less than ideal night’s sleep.

That all changed this year. After 8 comfortable nights in the mountains with this sleeping pad, tent camping will never be the same! I even had a couple nights in hotels during this trip and found I often slept better in the tent!

This sleeping pad is mostly foam with a small air chamber in between. It self-inflates in under a minute and takes maybe 2-3 minutes to roll up from the base. You may need to blow a few extra breaths into the pad for full inflation, but the instructions advise you to be careful not to over-inflate (2-5 breaths). It’s very comfortable, lightweight, and fairly compact. For comparison, my Manduka yoga mat is about the same height, not as thick, but feels much heavier. This will pack well in the car, but it’s not a good option for backpackers due to its size. It should be perfect for drive-in tent campers, or those looking for an extra “bed” for house or college dorm room guests.

The comfort was downright luxurious. In ~50 years of camping I have never had a more comfortable sleep. It was very warm, roomy and gentle on my aging bones. The quality of the pad is excellent and the two brass inflation valves work well.

For car camping, this pad gets my full recommendation. For backpacking very long distances, weight and bulk is critical.
