Stormy Kromer began in 1903 as an in-home operation. After 16 years of high demand for George and Ida’s popular windproof six-panel cap, the couple opened their first factory in 1919. Since then, the company has grown exponentially, expanding their catalog along the way. Stormy Kromer leadership has maintained the vitality of the company's ongoing legacy by offering a multitude of sizes, colors, and styles while remaining true to producing high-quality products from start to finish.

You’ll find all the comfort and durability of the Original, with a cool, aerodynamic look. The Brimless features a toasty 23-25 oz. wool blend and cotton flannel lining along with our winter-ready pull-down earband. Pop it on under your snowmobile helmet for extra-added warmth.

Stormy Kromer is based in Ironwood, Michigan and headed by the Jacquart family — Bob and Denise, and daughters Gina and KJ. We have strong roots in Ironwood. In fact, several of our ancestors were among the pioneers who settled the town. We’ve opened and grown businesses here since the early 1900s. We guess you can say it’s in our blood.

Manufacturing

When you pop a Stormy Kromer cap on your head, you’re supporting American workers. Nearly all of our manufacturing is done in the USA. Those few items that aren’t created here are made by carefully chosen partners who share our high standards for quality and ethics.

Quality starts with materials and people. We search the globe for the most comfortable, durable fabrics and trim materials, and then we put them in the hands of our talented, capable craftspeople here in Michigan. From designers to cutters to sewing machine operators, our team is meticulous and experienced.
