The point of this is to give you 3 extra two pronged outlets however on standard US dual port outlets it only gives you two because if you plug it in the bottom, the top port it gives you is useless as using it would block the top outlet. And, as a rational person would think, "well it is obviously designed to be used in the top outlet so just plug it in there and nothing is blocked." But that rational person didn''t design this product because it blocks part of the bottom outlet when you plug it into the top. So either way, using this either blocks one of your standard 3 prong outlets or makes the top two prong outlet of the device useless.
This is only useful if you have some strange US outlet somewhere that only has one plugin and can''t handle standard dual outlet.

If you plug the extender in the bottom holes, then you''re forced to choose between the top holes of the extender or the top holes of the outlet. You can''t use both.
