The graphics showing the elevated driver’s view and the turn-by-turn directions are visible and good. The spoken directions are generally good, except the pronunciation can be slightly odd for 10% of the streets, and pretty bizarre for 2-3% of the streets.

The system doesn’t know about traffic, and it doesn’t seem up to date on some traffic control changes and construction. This would be OK, except that I wanted to edit a route for a saved destination. It doesn’t save the edited route - I would have to re-edit it every time. So I did Custom Avoidance, which meant I permanently forbid it to use certain segments of streets or highways; that was not as smooth as I wanted, because if I chose too long a segment of a local highway, the avoided route was some odd path through city streets rather than the highway itself. I use Trip Planner, but that isn''t ideal.

When I first started using it, the Mac version of Garmin Express did not work. I contacted help via Chat, and response was slow and not helpful (it was a Saturday). The Windows version worked just fine. A week later the Mac software installed and worked OK.

BaseCamp is helpful - definitely use it.

Google Maps on the iPhone has some usability problems, and I wanted a solution for someone with some cognitive challenges. It works well if you know the street name for your destination, otherwise it gets tricky trying to select where
you want to go. While on an interstate I would ask for the nearest Holiday Inn, it would give me hotels that
were all over the place - 50 miles back, 25 miles off course, and rarely where I was headed. It would not
allow me to select places to far off either. When I had a street address the next state over it could not find
the address. I found it very frustrating. However, it was helpful during our travels to get in and out of cities,
locate specific addresses once we were close enough, and alerts you to speed limit changes, as well as tells you
what lane to be in when the roads intersect or veer off. All in all it was helpful, but the design to input info could
