3 Layers of Vitrelle Glass

The 3 layers of glass are thermally bonded together by laminating a top and bottom layer of clear skin glass to a core centre layer, which creates dinnerware that’s lightweight but strong, thin but non-porous.

Break and Chip Resistant

Vitrelle is a unique, tempered glass that is resistant against breaks and chips. The special glass makes versatile Corelle dinnerware as thin and translucent as fine china, yet dramatically stronger.

Space Saving

Vitrelle is lightweight and thinner than typical ceramic plates—when stacked, Corelle takes up less space in cabinets than conventional ceramic plates and bowls.

Microwave Safe

Vitrelle is microwave safe and even safe for oven use up to 180 degrees

These are that. My concerns with these (may or may not be important) are 1) the cups are porcelain from China, not Corelle. They are a nice size for tea, but a little small for coffee plus I don''t think they will last (look like cheaper cups). 2) The tree pattern is on TOP of the plates, not in the glaze like my last Corelle. I am a little concerned that the pattern will rub off, although it seems stuck on there fairly well and there are no areas that are missing any pattern. 3) the square plates are HUGE compared to regular dinner plates. I did not realize that. That may be great for some people, but I am not sure I want them so large. The salad plates are also over-sized. The bowls are a great size, though. On a positive note -- the square shape fits great in the dishwasher and in the cupboard. Still, I ordered round in a different pattern. When I get them I plan to decide which to keep. I do love Corelle.
update: I chose to keep these and the round ones I got, also.
