Citadel: Omnibus is the fully collected Citadel Trilogy, bound together in one volume for the first time!
More than a century ago, Earth was suffering under the weight of overpopulation and ever-dwindling natural resources. Humanity’s best and brightest were commissioned to create a means for humanity to escape the overcrowding of Earth, and to branch out and live among the stars. Their efforts were hampered by the seeming impossibility of faster-than-light travel, until a team of researchers discovers an usual answer they call “the Lightrail”.
On the eve of Earth’s first successful jaunt to the stars, however, a powerful organization called Earth First commits a horrible act of terrorism, setting the program back by decades. A single figure, "the Destroyer of Worlds”, now stands among the most villainous men in history.
A century later, humanity is recovering from a 50-year war with the Esool, a plant-like race that has its own version of the lightrail. Territorial battles raged after miscommunications and fear took their toll, leaving both sides compromised and weakened, with no choice but to come to peace.
Onboard the Citadel colony vessel, humanity and Esool are embarking on their first journey of peaceful joint colonization, when history tragically repeats itself. An Earth First saboteur has put the vessel on a crash course with the wrong world, and the results of this errant journey could cost humanity all it has gained.
A group of castaways on a world far from home are all that stand between humanity, the Esool, and the end of faster-than-light travel. And, as the Destroyer of Worlds reawakens in the universe, all hope may be lost.

I downloaded the first Citadel novel for free and enjoyed it so much that I bought the Omnibus because I had to find out what happened next! These are page-turners with plenty of suspense and some great characters, as well as enough extraterrestrial speculative weirdness to engage fans of classics like Star Trek. Although I''m not a hard sci-fi type, the author''s tech felt real to me. But what I really care about is seeing how characters respond to stressful situations, and what they learn about themselves and each other - and the author delivers this in spades. Last but not least, at a time when a lot of creatives seem to think that "darker is better," this story didn''t feel like that, and I really appreciated it.

Citadel: Omnibus: The Complete Citadel Trilogy is the best trilogy I''ve ever read. Citadel First Colony, Paths in Darkness, and Children of Light are all exceptional science fiction books in this series. Kevin is beyond brilliant. He has extremely well-described characters and challenging plots with several twists and turns in each plot.
I believe you will enjoy these 5-star science fiction books. I purchased the trilogy, but each book is available separately. Treat yourself to three exciting reads. You''ll be hooked from the beginning, and you''ll never guess the ending!
I''ve read 7 of Kevin Tumlinson''s books, and I''ve already purchased 4 more.

I get nothing done around the house! That''s how engrossing Kevin Tumlinson''s stories are. This series has everything! It''s got space travel, flying cars, two other life forms (one that''s all energy), explosions, hatreds, friendships, a love story (which I love), an evil "Chairman" (what a character he is) plus much more and so many twists and turns it''s unbelievable. I grew to love some of the characters & hate others and totally enjoyed the development of each character''s story. I recommend this Trilogy to everyone, and hopefully Kevin has plans to continue this story!!

Backstories on several of the main characters make for lots of tension.Great aliens, which integrate perfectly with the story. Having the Omnibus, rather than separate novels is a real asset, as the three parts flow quickly and smoothly from one to the next, and the second part ends on a cliffhanger that would be extremely stressful for the reader if the third novel was not immediately on hand. One point of frustration was that two of the character were computer geniuses (as well as engineering geniuses, when called-upon) and they always had a solution at their fingertips; or if not, wait five minutes. It kept the story moving briskly, but I loath those television character who can sit at a computer, tap out a glissando of keystrokes, and hack the NSA system in 10 seconds. Similar peeve here. I will be reading more of Kevin Tumlinson''s shortly. One person found this helpfulReport
