In addition to selling product that is not quite as advertised (and perhaps not safe for certain applications), this company is manipulating the star rating for this product by bribing people into removing negative reviews. Since September, I have received 10 emails from the company offering me a "refund" of $40 for items that are selling for $27 if I will just remove the review (original review included below).

I was just going to let it go, and flagged the mail from them as spam. But lo and behold, the sender of the email keeps changing which is evading the spam filter. Look, 10 emails in 4 months is not a huge spam flood or anything, but I don''t like the dishonesty of a) changing the email sender and b) rating manipulation, and c) being pestered to remove an honest and truthful review.

Original Review:
These outlets are a good price and work fine. However, some caution in application is necessary.

First, these outlets are not UL or ETL listed. Second, though advertised as 15A (which is also printed on the back of each unit), they are apparently not capable of even 12A continuous in 70F ambient (see attached picture). A level 1 EV charger was plugged into this unit, and you can see how it''s melted. The EV manufacturer requires only a 15A circuit for the charger, and I have never seen the charger draw more than between 11 and 12 amps (whether measured by this unit or a kill-a-watt).

So it works fine, but not at 15A.... something UL/ETL testing surely would have discovered if the units had been submitted for cert. 770 people found this helpful Helpful

The device itself should not be Internet connected. You don''t need to reprogram an outlet timer away from home.

The software on the device won''t get updated, particularly when the manufacturer disappears. So you will become the unwittingly component of a botnet down the road when security holes are inevitably uncovered.

Smart devices are a Trojan Horse for planned obsolescence. They''ll magically stop working or "will no longer be supported" and you''ll have to buy a new one.

I ordered a four pack because the incremental cost over buying two was not that much. However, I could not get the first one I pulled out of the box connected to wifi.

I got the second one connected, however the instructions and app are awful and in broken english. Pictures in the app do not match the product. Overall, very confusing. App gets 1 star too.

Finally, the product is just cheaply made. O have similar items from TPLINK and Amazon and the quality difference in manufacturing is very, very evident. The plastic is thin and flimsy and you can see the metal contact points in the plug slots. I would be concerned that these are a fire hazard.

I have since figured out that an extra TPLINK product I have will meet my needs. Sticking with them - I have been extremely happy with TPLINK and Amazon products in this space. 57 people found this helpful Helpful

Setup:
Due to the rectangular shape of the smart plugs, I can fit two of them on a one gang outlet. However, if you have a two gang outlet, it may result in two of your plugs unusable.
Following the instructions provided, setting up all the smart plugs took 5 minutes once I figured out where I wanted them in each room.
Make sure that you are connected to the wi-fi, and that you plug in one device at a time, and then set it up. Otherwise, it''ll get confusing as to which plug is which on the Century Smart App since they haven''t been named yet. Also, if you have a VPN on your phone turned on, you need to turn it off. Otherwise, the setup will fail.

Performance:
These things work well and are packed with a bunch of cool features. I had a two pack prior to purchasing this three pack, and I''ve been using them for three months so far. They have connected to my wi-fi network, and have stayed connected just fine. I''ve had other smart plugs in the past, like the Belkin''s Wemo Insight Smart Plug, and had difficulties with it keeping a connection with my wireless network.

One of the cool features about this device is that you can track your energy usage with it. It tracks it by the month as well as by the day. I have LED lamps plugged into mine, so it doesn''t show much power being drawn.

Another cool feature is the ability to share the smart devices with other members in your household. After setting mine up, all I had to do was share the phone number of the other members in the house. They get a text message, and then they can access the smart light features on their phones once they create an account.

Finally, it has Google Home and Alexa integration. I have some Google Home Minis at home, and they work well with the smart plugs. On the Google Home App, you just need to designate which room each smart plug is in. Then all you have to do is just talk to Google and tell it which lights to turn on and off.

Conclusion:
