Charging output is a function of voltage multiplied by current. As chargers and cables universally tend to have a potential difference of 5 Volts, your accessories need to charge with a high enough current to give you that high promised output from your charger.

For instance, if your charger can carry 4 Amps of current at 5 Volts and provide 20 Watts of output power, but your separate cable can only carry 1 Amp at 5 Volts then it can then only provide 5 Watts - meaning slow charging.
